The current manager of Stoke City FC is Tony Pulis. Tony Pulis has a reputation for achieving solid results on small budgets and has never had a team relegated as manager. Tony has managed Stoke twice. He has previously managed Bournemough, Gillingham, Bristol City and then Pompey. Stoke City is the fifth club he has managed. Initially Tony made sure the club was not relocated from Division One in the 2003/04 season and then he departed the club in 2005 but returned in the Summer of 2006. At the end of the 2007/08 season, Tony Pulis achieved what no other Stoke City manager has achieved by guiding the club into the English Premier League. As Stoke city manager, Tony has secured a number of high profile players including Danish goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen, striker Mamady Sidibe and the Jamaican International Ricardo Fuller.
The 60s were dubbed the Tony Waddington Years for the club where they fought not to be relegated and attempted to climb to the top. Tony Waddington was appointed manager of Stoke in 1960 and remained manager for 17 years. Stoke won its first important trophy in 1972 in the League Cup beating Chelsea football club at Wembley Stadium 2:1. After this historic win the club fell into the lower divisions and remained there for a number of years. However, the club did win the Football League Trophy twice, in 1992 and in 2000. In 2008 the club finally made it back into the English Premier League and at the end of the 2008/09 Season finished 12th, securing their stay in the Premiership for another year.

One of the most famous players to have emerged from Stoke City was Stan Matthews. Stan grew up in Stoke-on-Trent and started playing football for The Potters in the 1930s. Stanley Matthews was knighted in 1965 and was the first football player to be knighted. He also won the first ever European footballer of the year award.
The club resides in Stoke-on-Trent which was the hub of the pottery industry, including famous pottery firms like Wedgewood and Royal Doulton. Because of its location in The Potteries, the football club has affectionately been called the Potters.

The Britania Stadium is a 28,000 all seater stadium. The Britania Building Society sponsored the overall funding of the new stadium hence the name. Formally of AC Milan, Ancelotti won 234 matches with the club and captured two UEFA Super Cups (03, 07) as well as two UEFA Champions League titles (02-03, 06-07). With his creative style of coaching as well as his experience in high pressure situations, Ancelotti should have Blue’s fans eagerly anticipating the future of the team.
More recently, after the 2003 sale of the club to Russian businessman Roman Abramovich, the team began to dominate both the English and International stage. Under their new ownership, the Blues spent upwards of 100 million pounds on new talent and a new manager, Jose Mourinho. It was under Mourinho that Chelsea achieved its greatest successes. Chelsea won back to back league championships in 2004-2005 and 2005-2006, becoming only the 5th English team to do so, as well as capturing the 2007 FA and League Cups. Chelsea made it to their first ever UEFA Champions League Final in 2007 under new manager Avram Grant. Since then, Chelsea has continued to play on a high level.
Originally known as the Pensioners, Chelsea was formed on March, 14 1905 and was elected to the Football League not long after. Upon their entry into the League, Chelsea’s showings were less than impressive. It wasn’t until the 1950′s that Chelsea became a formidable adversary on the British stage. New manager Ted Drake took over in 1952 and began to transform the team into a version of what we know today. Now known as the Blues, Drake and his new squad won the 1954-55 League Championship, the club’s first major trophy.

The Blues have played football for over a century and since their inception they have called only one place home, Stamford Bridge. With a bowl-like design and a covered terrace, Stamford Bridge could originally hold approximately 10,000 people. In an attempt to modernize the pitch in the 1970′s, a massive renovation was planned that would turn Stamford Bridge into a more modern 50,000 all-seater stadium. But this plan was stalled due to mounting financial costs. Renovation work continued in the mid-nineties and the plan was back in action.
Chelsea F.C. has a long and rich history in the realm of English Football. For most of their existence, they have been considered as part of the top-tier of English Football clubs. Under manager Tommy Docherty, the Blues made formidable runs at trophies throughout the 1960′s but fell short in all but one endeavor, the 1964-65 League Cup. In 1970, Chelsea won the FA Cup over Leeds United and continued their winning ways into the following season, winning the UEFA Cup Winner’s Cup over Real Madrid, their first major European honor. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t be until the mid-nineties that Chelsea would re-establish its dominance in the football world.
The New Premier League, founded in 1992, became Chelsea’s home upon its formation. The Blues would not display top form in the league until 1994, when they reached the FA Cup Final. 1996 saw a change for Chelsea as they added accomplished star Ruud Gullit as player-manager. Gullit signed several international players with tremendous talent which allowed the Blues to capture the 1997 FA Cup, firmly establishing them as one of England’s top sides.
